At Acadia, we recognize that insurance companies do not value state-of-the-art therapies for TMJ and sleep and breathing issues. One of the hardest parts of our job is helping patients afford the specialized care we provide. We are often asked, “Will my insurance cover this?” Unfortunately, the honest answer is usually no. Insurance companies largely view these conditions as low priority, even though they can have a major impact on quality of life. We wish this were different. With over 75 years of combined experience in this world, we rarely, if ever, see insurance coverage for many of these issues.
The good news is that we have created multiple ways to help patients get the care they need. In most cases, we are able to break treatment costs into monthly payments, often ranging from $100 to $500 per month, depending on the situation and financial needs. After your initial consultation, we can discuss what options may be available for you. Because TMJ and sleep related conditions are complex, we cannot quote fees until we understand your diagnosis and recommended treatment. Our care is fully customized and focused on addressing root causes, not one size fits all solutions that often fail patients.
It is important to understand that our practice does not participate with insurance plans, including MaineCare. This is a deliberate choice. Insurance companies do not adequately cover TMJ and airway-focused care and often restrict or delay treatment. By working directly with patients, we are able to provide personalized, timely care without insurance companies dictating clinical decisions.
To help reduce financial barriers, we offer flexible financing options so patients can move forward with care when they need it. We are also happy to provide detailed documentation if you choose to submit claims to your insurance independently.
